If you want to look sexy this winter you better stay inside because there will be none of that. Pre-fall is all about boxy separates, tailored trousers, big coats and slouchy knits. If you start feeling like a boy, don’t be alarmed. You’re doing it right.
We may be in the midst of summer here in Australia but that has never stopped me from thinking ahead. There’s nothing wrong with being prepared is there? Didn’t think so. In this spirit, here is my lowdown on the pre-fall collections.
Long, oversized knits looked best layered with flowing dresses as shown at Chloe and Alexander Wang. Also don’t be afraid to raid the man in your life’s wardrobe and see what you can find. Throw his clothes over yours to achieve an effortless silhouette.
For all the single ladies, I’m sorry but there will be no freakum dresses. Just a whole lot of man-repelling (our love of Leandra’s blog will become more apparent over time). If you don’t have a boy to borrow from, you can wear the pants. Literally. Any kind of tailored trouser you can imagine will be a staple. Especially when worn as a deconstructed suit with clashing prints and colours. Take lead from Balenciaga, Kenzo, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Givenchy.
And here’s the best of the rest starring Louis Vuitton, Rag & Bone, Lanvin and 3.1 Phillip Lim (again).
